Although the mosquitos and heat may get in the way, Wisconsin is a beautiful area with really fun and flowy trails. The race was held at Cascade mountain resort and I was super excited to race, after having so much fun last year. As we launched off the line with all the cat 1 women, I went straight into the lead. Not quite wanting to be in that position, I slowed down and waited for the other riders to make the pace. As one rider took my place in first, the speed became slower than I expected. This wasn’t quite the short track I was looking for, so as we went into the next lap I was back in the lead, with my teammate, Kelsey Urban, on my tail. Throughout every turn, drop, and lap we kept the field behind us. Bam 10 minutes done and two laps to go. I brought up the pace a little faster, but still ready for the last lap. The two of us flew through the course, enjoying every bit. Finally it was the last lap and my legs bursted, ready to race for the finish. Every climb was a sprint, with Kelsey not far back. On the last corner I had gained a little bit on her, but she was still close. Standing, I raced for the finish and took first. I was so excited to go 1 and 2 with my teammate and also have great finishes for Whole Athlete!
